I recently spent a long weekend away at a scrapbook retreat with a couple of girlfriends. This is one of the pages that I created over the weekend.
My scrapbooking style varies, depending on the pictures and occasion. Sometimes I use lots of colors and embellishments. And sometimes, like this page, I keep the page simple and let the pictures speak for themselves.
I took these pictures in December, 2013 during a trip to Minneapolis, MN. The temperatures during that trip were at or below zero the whole time I was there, and as a result, the Mississippi River was partially frozen over. I just love the contrasting colors created by the late afternoon winter sun reflecting on the river and surrounding structures.
I didn’t want to distract from the pictures with a busy page. That’s why I chose a simple 12″x12″ Basic Black page, and matted the pictures with Crumb Cake and Whisper White for a classic look. I cut out the title from Basic Black, with a Whisper White shadow, on my KNK Zing electronic cutter. And I added simple journaling – just the date and location – with my uni-ball Signo Gel Pen.
