Best Technique For Blending Watercolor Pencils

Recently I shared two cards – both using the “Wherever You Go” stamp set from Stampin’ Up!. Both cards used similar supplies, including Watercolor Pencils (new in the 2017 Occasions Catalog).

On the Wherever You Go Sympathy Card, I colored the background with Watercolor Pencils on Whisper White Cardstock, then blended the colors with an Aqua Painter filled with water. This resulted in very softly blended colors. But, it was difficult to prevent the Cardstock from becoming saturated with water.

On the Rainbow Bridge Card, I also colored the background with Watercolor Pencils on Whisper White Cardstock, but I blended the colors with a Blender Pen instead of the Aqua Painter. The result this time was less-saturated Cardstock, but  also less blending, resulting in more intense colors.

So which technique is best? I can’t really say one is better that the other. It simply depends on the result you’re looking for.
